Since these are the official rules, can we update them so they are accurate? Under PvE rules, banned items should include water buckets and lava buckets. Also, along the lines of the ban on tard towers, can we have a warning about unique trees in community spaces that form an integral part of landscaping and are often chopped down for the wood, destroying the irreplaceable redwoods and acacias? Something along the lines of "Large, unique trees are irreplaceable once destroyed, and may be part of a community's landscaping efforts. Destroying such community trees can constitute griefing, and if there is any doubt as to the status of such trees, one should not damage them."

Also, are any other items banned that I have missed? I have heard people claim that powered minecarts or minecarts with chests are banned.

This needs clarification; what is a forced takeover?

Is it a forced takeover if:

    * You just walk into someones house and say "harr, this is now my house"
    * You kill them in pvp anywhere in the world
    * You kill them in pvp inside their house
    * You kill them a certain amount of time
    * You announce you are going to force takeover his house before killing him...

Also, what is the new owner (owner2) allowed to do, and what is the old owner(owner1) allowed to do?

Apparently owner2 is not allowed to remove anything, but he is allowed to add things, right? Citation needed

What is owner1 allowed to do with the house? Is he still allowed to remove the walls he build himself, to attack owner2?

"If you destroy anything on this wiki, you will also be banned from the Reddit Public Minecraft Servers" I think this is unenforceable, as the user accounts aren't necessarily the same. For instance I could create an account here as Warwick, vandalize a bunch of pages, and get him banned on the Minecraft servers. --TaviRider 11:37, 10 January 2011 (CST)

It's pretty easy to enforce.  We have IP logs on the wiki, and IP logs on the servers.  If we see an IP that vandalized the wiki correspond to a single user logging in to the servers, there's a high likelihood that it's the same person. I realize sometimes users share IPs, but if a single user has logged on to the server for over the span of a month using the same IP, it's a pretty good indicator.  --sirmalloc 17:06, 11 January 2011 (CST)

Server page structural change
I don't know if I am the only one who feel that the wiki is somewhat difficult to navigate, especially when...
# ... I want to find current information on a server, lite the current cities and whatnot.
# ... I want to find information about old creations, towns, happenings and all that.

Now, I don't know much about all the other server pages other than PvE, but here all current settlements have their own section on the page, which is good. But at the same time everything else from past revisions are mushed together on its own page. On the server page we also have an introduction to the server containing a brief history of past revisions (which is good) but also quite a bit of text about past revisions but near to nothing on the current one (which is bad).

There is also some outdated screenshots, an outdated subway map, a section about "The Hunt for Atlantis" which was happening during the second revision and overall a quite generic description about how the server works (read the short transportation description, for example. It doesn't mention any current rail lines or pathways).

I'm proposing a change to make things somewhat more structured. First of we make a page for each revision, like "PvE (r1)", "PvE (r2)" etc. These contain a history of the server revision, maybe some lines about what has changed since the last revision, and anything else that might have been of interest when it was running. They also contain the list of settlements currently stashed away on the previously linked page along with short descriptions (if any) of these PoIs. Stuff like the Atlantis hunt will also belong to these pages so that one can easily get a grip of what have happened in the past, where and on what revision. Also, major changes in the server rules or game mechanics of the server (like map generator) can be included on these pages.

Then we either make a generic PvE much like the current one with only generic information (and maybe something current), history and images, along with a server page for the current revision "PvE (r6)" (like the ones described above). Or we make the current PvE server page all about the latest revision with settlements, current rail network, up to date images, history and events.

Of course, PvE is just an example, since it's my server of choice at the moment. A change like this ain't really such a big deal. The "sub-server pages" would be like historical copies of the then current server page. The current server page will still have a revision history table on them with links to the sub-server pages.

Also, I posted this in Talk:Rules simply because someone made a redirect here from Talk:PvE.

I have heard people claim that powered minecarts or minecarts with chests are banned.

forced takeovers

Necrowizard 14:08, 8 January 2011 (GMT+1)

This needs clarification; what is a forced takeover?

Is it a forced takeover if:

 * You just walk into someones house and say "harr, this is now my house"
 * You kill them in pvp anywhere in the world
 * You kill them in pvp inside their house
 * You kill them a certain amount of time

Also, what is the new owner (owner2) allowed to do, and what is the old owner(owner1) allowed to do?

Apparently owner2 is not allowed to remove anything, but he is allowed to add things, right? [citation needed]

What is owner1 allowed to do with the house? Is he still allowed to remove the walls he build himself, to attack owner2?

Deleting blocks placed by other players or modifying players' houses without permission

Necrowizard 14:25, 8 January 2011 (GMT+1)

This needs clarification; what are you allowed to remove?

there appears to be an indifference along the moderators of about what you are allowed to remove from other players.

 * is it oke to break other people's walls to attack them?
 * is it allowed to modify the outside of a house? For example, placing a ladder on a wall to get over a wall, or placing a lever next to an iron door in order to open it.
 * is it allowed to modify the inside of a house? For example, placing fences inside around the player to prevent him from escaping
 * if its oke to break other people's walls, how much of it are you allowed to break, and is it required to fix it? If you are required to fix it, how much time do you have to do so, because replacing some blocks takes time. For example: glass, or obsidian (as its not place-able after breaking it)
