This page outlines the official rules for the Nerd.nu Gaming Community. For additional policy information please see the [[Server_Policies|Server Policies]] page
*No attempts to circumvent any protections on the server, including but not limited to the server script, LWC(Chest protection), Cuboid(Block protection), and GriefAlert. Attempts to do so without permission will result in a ban without appeal.
*Invisible or glitched players may have their data reset without warning.
*No sharing of illegal content.
*No blatant sexism, racism, or hate speech targeted at specific users.
*No griefing, including but not limited to: destroying blocks placed by other players, flooding structures, spamming items, leaving inappropriate signs on others’ structures, destroying plants  (none of these apply to chaos)
*No placing banned items (banned items are specific to each server)
*Players blatantly using modifications to change gameplay may be asked to stop.  This includes, but is not limited to: flying, noclip, invincibility, speed, and duping hacks.
*Don't be a dick (the staff reserves the right to mess with dicks...in a completely asexual and extremely self-depriving yet generous way)
*No trolling in chat (Don’t spam the chat with useless twaddle)
*You are responsible for your own account.  If you account is used by someone else for griefing the server in any way, it will be banned.  Please do not message the moderators with the excuse that someone else used your account.  We have no way to verify this, and as such, it will not be tolerated as an excuse.
*Any rules placed at spawn on the servers supersede the rules here as they will generally be more up-to-date.
*Please respect the moderators and the admins. Blatant harassment of the staff can result in a kick or a ban.
*Please don’t complain about lag or server restarts.  It’s a fact of life, our technical admins are constantly working to smooth the experience, and it gets annoying.  They do their best to prevent rollbacks.  Since they are working for zero profit and yet give us such a nice set of servers and/or playing experience please treat the techies like the majestic beasts they are.
*Do not spam /mod request with silly requests or things which cannot/do not need to be resolved by staff.

= '''ALL SERVICES''' =
*Banned Items: Fire (flint and steel), TNT, flowing lava
*'''Be respectful and civil toward your fellow players'''
*No killing other players outside designated PvP areas
**No harassment or excessive trolling
*No killing other players with lava or any other means in PvE areas.  This includes, but is not limited to: Dropping lava on or around them, dropping blocks on them, or pushing them and forcing them to fall.
**No bigotry / hate speech including but not limited to ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, and religion.
*The current PvE map is very beautiful but also very height-disadvantaged for players. As such we will warn/kick players who continuously build what are known as 'tard-towers' (towers that are only a single block wide) that tarnish the landscape. If you wish to reach floating islands or higher elevations please at least add ladders to these sorts of towers or create stairs. Be respectful of the map and do not mar the experience or view for other players.
**No disruptive arguments/discussions in global chat
*Do not lead creepers to other users' creations with the intention of destroying their stuff. If this happens accidentally its your responsibility to fix it.
***Staff will ask you to take these to private message or clanchat if you wish to continue.
*Don't Build any structure within 40-50 blocks from any StarGates.
**No public accusations of rule-breaking or discussion of bans
***To report rule violations, make a /modreq ingame or contact a staff member.
**No “ban baiting”
***Ban baiting is enticing or aggravating someone into saying or doing something that will result in a ban – this may result in a ban for both parties.
**Do not build too close to another player’s build (see [http://wiki.nerd.nu/wiki/PvE_Information_Guide PVE] or [http://wiki.nerd.nu/wiki/Creative_Information_Guide Creative] FAQ for details)
**No posting personal information (i.e. doxxing)
**No offensive/inappropriate constructions or skins
**No impersonating other players, particularly staff
***This includes both claiming to be another person or staff, as well as changing your screen name in a way that can be thought to be another user. In these instances your account may be banned until you can change the name again.
**Client mods that give a distinct advantage to an individual are not allowed. Click here for the list of [http://wiki.nerd.nu/wiki/Approved_client_mods approved client mods]
**No killing/stealing mobs "owned" by other players
***This includes any named mobs, mobs that are enclosed/restrained, claimed pet-type mobs and villagers. “Hostile mob” pets must be enclosed such that players cannot enter and be harmed (without breaking in).
**You may not trap or kill players except in designated arenas
***This includes player traps or indirect forms or killing such as placing lava or using mobs
**You may not restrict access to your builds - the map should be open for exploration
***Exceptions to this on PvE would include: a structure to hold villagers for trading; killing box of iron grinders (assuming iron is available to the public); small containers housing “pet” hostile mobs.

= [[Survival]] =
*Banned Items: Fire (flint and steel), TNT, flowing lava
*No killing other players outside designated PvP areas
*No killing other players with lava or any other means in PvE areas.  This includes, but is not limited to: Dropping lava on or around them, dropping blocks on them, or pushing them and forcing them to fall.
*No forced takeovers of others’ structures.
*No removing blocks from other’s structures to enter them.  If the structure has no entrance and is in a PvP zone then another player is allowed to break into the base to kill players as long as they replace the blocks they destroyed.
*To have your area considered for a PvE zone it must have 15+ occupants as well as discernible walls/barriers separating it from the outside terrain.  To apply for your area to become PvE please send a message to #mcpublic on reddit.
*Do not lead creepers to other users' creations with the intention of destroying their stuff. If this happens accidentally its your responsibility to fix it.

*'''Be Respectful to the server'''
**No xraying/hacking/cheating or exploiting bugs to give yourself an unfair advantage
***Any use of xray / ore detection will result in an immediate ban and rollback of all edits.
**No griefing or block spamming
**No inducing excessive lag
***Do not allow huge numbers of entities to build up, e.g. by idling at a non-kill mob grinder or breeding an absurd number of animals.
***All redstone must have an off switch (or the ability to automatically turn off when not in use)
**No spam
***'Spam' includes a high volume of lines and/or repeated characters entered into chat.
**No Advertising non-nerd.nu servers
**Build Removal:
***Scaffolding, 1x1 towers, or other temporary builds should be removed when you are finished with them. These structures may be removed by staff without notice.
***Certain "very low quality" structures including but not limited to cobble/netherrack boxes, and floating skyrails may be removed if they significantly impact the surrounding area in a negative way.
***Unfinished builds that are deemed ‘abandoned’ and are negatively affecting other builds may be removed at admin discretion.
***Unused claims may be removed at after 1 month of inactivity on creative, or at admin discretion on pve
**Certain blocks are not permitted, please refer to the [http://wiki.nerd.nu/wiki/Creative_Information_Guide#Are_there_any_blocks_I_can.E2.80.99t_place.3F Creative FAQ] or [http://wiki.nerd.nu/wiki/PvE_Information_Guide#Are_there_any_blocks_I_can.E2.80.99t_place.3F PvE FAQ] for details
